Day in Day Out 2022

Seattle’s Day in Day Out 2022 festival spotlighted an electric array of alternative artists. Rice & Spice primarily photographed household names Mitski, Japanese Breakfast, and the more underrated Hollis. Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner brought golden vitality to the stage, complete with a tiered bouncy daffodil-yellow skirt. Seattle-based Hollis thrilled the audience with an enthralling sound dipped in refreshing dynamism. Swinging her long, flowy, vivid purple dress, Mitski jumped, clapped, and kicked along with her dramatic facial expressions. Her animated movements challenged photographers like myself, and in combination with the other sets, allowed photographers to share an artist’s personality and storytelling from different angles. With every Day in Day Out performance, artists captured depth and emotion, drawing tears, screams, and smiles from their audiences, crafting a beautiful experience of vibrancy.
