This is a callback to Hong Kong's heyday, where the city was filled with triad members and expat bankers. However, when the handover back to China happened, there was an entire generation of children whose parents saw England as the Motherland, so much so that they raised their children in the 'European' style and sent them overseas to the UK, much like how the majority of millennial Hongkongers are now fleeing Hong Kong for London. This shoot honours the children who are left behind, who were raised to fill the shoes of the 70s greats under English rule, but are now so disconnected from their own culture, despite being surrounded by it, that they can only perceive it through foreign eyes.
