There is only one word to describe The Greeting Committee: electric. If glaring neon signs and speeding down the freeway were personified, they would be it. The spunky indie rock group comprised of Addison “Addie” Sartino, Brandon Yangmi and Pierce Turcotte is undeniably one of the freshest, most fun bands of 2022, with their U.S. Dandelion tour serving as a prime example of their incredible talent. I attended their February 10th show in Brooklyn’s hotspot venue Elsewhere, where I was accompanied by a bustling group of fans looking to dance away their troubles for the night. Little did we know, we had one of the most exhilarating parties in all of New York.

Walking into the space, I’m greeted with a handful of disco balls hung in the air and streams of red light piercing into the floor, along with squiggly and polka dot neon lights all across the walls. I know I’m in for something special tonight. “Queen of Disaster” by Lana Del Ray is drifting out of the speakers. I rush to secure a spot at the foot of the stage, and soon after, alternative musical group The Brazen Youth walk out onto the stage. Dressed in casual streetwear, they have a laidback style of communicating with us between songs — but when a song begins, they’re overcome with an upbeat honesty. There’s a beautiful sense of truth emanating from each song, and they pour their hearts into each note. The sincere tenacity of the group and their catchy, heartfelt music are definitely exemplary of a name like The Brazen Youth.
An hour later, The Greeting Committee enter the scene, with Addie bursting onto the floor in a shimmering red suit. All at once, I’m swept away into the colorful, intoxicating music of indie rock's newest rising stars. There are no words that can adequately describe the energy of the night, but the only thought running through my mind is “electric.”
