This photo series is an honor to Hong Kong New Wave director Wong Kar-wai's 1997 “Happy Together” film. Through the lens of queer Chinese diaspora in New York, the shoot embodies the film's heavy atmosphere of being in a foreign city, and the subjects' hesitancy and love for each other. Wong Kar-wai is one of my favorite directors and “Happy Together” is one of the first films I watched on Asian queerness.
