Rice & Spice set out to the Eastern in Atlanta to shoot San Diego-born alternative artist Jelani Aryeh joining indie rock band Hippo Campus on their North American tour. The 20-year-old artist blends psychedelic rock, indie pop, and R&B into a sun-golden sonic palette that richly resonates with listeners. Through reimagining classic sounds, Aryeh invokes nostalgia and spirituality in a honest and introspective tapestry of the human experience.
Lit by hazy red and purple lights throughout the night, Aryeh and his band playfully joked about changing their names every stop of the tour. After the euphoric, electric energy of their performance, the room roared as Hippo Campus came out, exploding in sync with the symphonic sounds of the band. Both Hippo Campus and Jelani Aryeh enraptured the audience in a vibrant night of effervescent, gloriously youthful exuberance.
