Rice & Spice photographed pop star Olivia Rodrigo’s sold-out performance at Radio City Music Hall, the first of two nights at her New York City stop on her debut SOUR tour. With a blend of radio pop hits and ballads, Rodrigo channeled the energy of artists such as Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne, the exhilarated crowd screaming the lyrics to every song.

Throughout the concert, Rodrigo playfully interacted with the audience. As posted on her Instagram, she crowned two fans on stage with prom queen sashes for her second SOUR PROM, inspired by her concert film in 2021, before hugging the two girls in appreciation. iHeartRadio shared a video of Rodrigo grabbing a fan’s phone to record herself onstage, smiling as she spun around to show off the cheering crowd.

Rodrigo’s music is passionate. Her distinctly bright voice channeled the pain of heartbreak, the thrill of being in love, and the trials of youth. She writes songs that you can scream to. It’s the kind of music to blast at a sleepover with your best friends. At Radio City Music Hall, belting out every lyric, it’s almost like we’re driving home with Rodrigo towards bliss, through the tears, the rage, then the joy. Sour, then sweet.
