On the evening of May 22, Raveena Aurora put on a phenomenal performance to a passionate audience at Dallas’ House of Blues. Though the day started out uncertain—the crew’s tour bus was robbed of its equipment and wardrobe—Raveena, with the help of the community she has inspired, managed to put on her most heartfelt show yet.
After a stunning set by opener Fana Hues, Raveena and her band took the stage. In addition to singing her tunes, Raveena put a dreamy spin on the classic Bollywood hit, “Dum Maaro Dum.” Although I had seen Raveena in concert before, I was still blown away by what a powerful performer she is. Bathed in red and purple hues, she danced like she was in her own beautiful world, sharing the magic of her voice with the rest of us. And the audience was aptly entranced.
I could feel the affection her fans have for her as they sang along to “If Only” and “Temptation,” as they reassured her that she was loved, that they had her back in rough times like these. As Raveena held a guided meditation before transitioning into my personal favorite song, “Petal,” I couldn’t help but feel at peace, grateful to share this space with such wholly loving people. I am honored that this was my first concert photography gig, and I can’t wait to experience the magic of a Raveena show once again.
