Steve Lacy Gives Seattle the World

Steve Lacy graced his presence with the Give You the World Tour at the Showbox SoDo in Seattle on Sunday, February 12, with soothingly eclectic vocals supported by a stellar lighting display sporting euphoric colors and lasers.

The show begins with upcoming sensation, Foushée, who has been gaining notoriety for her unique blend of soft and strong vocals and heavy instrumental tracks. Foushée brought an energetic persona that lit up the stage in a captivating way. With a set list that fused rock, punk, and R&B among other genres, Foushée captured the essence of the forthcoming alternative music scene that has been making waves over the past several years.

After Foushée’s set, Steve Lacy brought a mellow set list in contrast but drew in his audience with an incredibly skillful demonstration of vocal and guitar instrumentation. He performed songs that ranged from the viral hit “Bad Habit,” to fan favorites like “N Side,” to songs off his most recent album,“Gemini Rights,” including “Give You the World” and “Mercury.” Lacy’s show made for an entertaining watch by all fans alike.

Lacy brought Foushée back on the stage for their collaboration “Sunshine,” which carried soft melodic vocals behind an electric guitar-heavy track.

Coming off fresh from his recent win for “Best Urban Contemporary Album” at the Grammys, this 24-year-old artist clearly cements the rapidly growing popularity of alternative music in the mainstream, easily demonstrated by the Seattle show’s turnout which sold out in less than a couple hours since its initial ticket release.
