The core of my art is rooted in my identity and my unique perspective of this world. I was born in the Philippines and adopted into a Caucasian family as a toddler. Being too Asian for the white people and not Asian enough for others I have always felt alienated. As an Asian American growing up in a very rural conservative area my race was always in question. These digital self portraits are an exploration of the once shame I held associated with being Asian. I am taking back my power once and for all, embodying the alien and in turn creating something profound and real.
