A smooth riff, clashes of the drums, and a rhythmic bass filled the venue of New York City's Mercury Lounge on June 17, a prelude to lead vocals Nur Wahida, who centered the stage. Singaporean band Subsonic Eye introduced their evocative sound to the states for the first time on their maiden US tour. Electrified fans and listeners shook the ground while speakers blasted the band’s introspective lyrics masked by indie-post punk instrumentals. The night unfolded with songs from their newest album, Nature of Things, accompanied by old and unreleased music that all merged into one restless, pleasant, and psychedelic setlist.
