Transit by Jungmin Woo - “Using white clothing, I photographed the journey of the fading soul, death, and recovery. I’d like to think that there are many versions of ourselves in different moments of time. That there is a version of me in the past who is hurting but there is also a version of me waiting for me in the future who is trying to heal.”

i think this was always a war story.

it keeps going on; before and after.

parents thought it was the boy

in the trans book that made me,

actually it was the kid from a couple blocks down

who always wore snapbacks

he said, “i’m not king midas but

everyone i touch

comes out eventually”

everything would’ve come out eventually.

be it first grade when i begged and begged for a haircut

and dirty sneakers

or third when i fought my cousin till he bled

for his checkered hoodie.

always violent, always ruthless, always desperate

is that what made me?

always twisted, never liked straight girls, straight boys,

always weapon

always possession,

ghosting through the person i’m becoming.
